My mom has a boyfriend and that’s what it’s like with us - we don’t hang out, he doesn’t give me gifts. If he shows up with my mom somewhere, it’s fine. If not, that’s also fine. He’s a nice guy and I have nothing against him, I’m glad my mom is happy, but he’s nothing to me. He’s not my dad or step dad.

My birthday this year fell around finals, so he was to busy to do anything for it and we celebrated by him making me dinner. He then said my mom and I both suck at gift giving. I asked him why he thinks I suck at gift giving and he brought up me becoming a crazy mean drunk off the bottle of whiskey I got him back on his 2015 birthday and being a cheapo not buying people good stuff they’d actually want, and just not putting much thought into things in general. So then he mentions my birthday present. I was very clear on what I wanted for my birthday -- tickets to my fav artist. And no, not Taylor Swift. I told him like 5 times. You could get very good seats for about $60-70 per person. So he tells me I'll get my gift on Friday and its an event and he wants to keep it a surprise.
After initially talking about it, my sibling said that they need to bring their boyfriend because it's a comedy show (the boyfriend does comedy), which I guess is whatever, I didn't really want to see him for my birthday celebration with my family, but now my sibling is asking me to get another ticket, saying they will pay it back later.
