Older Sig serial numbers have a letter, then 6 numbers. Each model has a different first letter. The P226 starts with U, the P228 B, P220 G, P225 M, and so on. The second U in your serial number means the frame was US made. The "legacy slide" on the P229 has a short extractor while more recent slides have the long extractor and full height cocking serrations. Both these slides fit on German made frames. Nov 5, 2017 · Those early P229's are really cool. Too bad it doesn't have an original barrel, but you can find one. More than likely the barrel didn't have a serial number anyway. Used DA/SA P229's are usually in the $550-$700 range depending on condition. I might pay a little more for an early one. BTW, .40 S&W and .357 SIG use the same magazine in the P229.
