A Saiga .308 is going to have about 200 yards effective accuracy. A Romak-3 is going to be a strong contender out to 600 yards, or 800 if you get a good one and are a good shot.

Who is running wood furniture on a converted S12 and what did you use for the upper and lower HG? I have a decent set of Romanian wood with the donkey schlong lower that I would like to use but I dont see any way of making the handguards work. pics are always appreciated.

Yes it is. You can gut an AKM foregrip, or Ironwood designs makes a US made set that fits it really well. The front lower hand-guard is thicker than a modified AKM foregrip & suites the S-12 GREAT. Dinzag arms sells a bolt-on kit for the AK RSB & gas-tube retainers now too.
