Skateboarding in the 1980s was very different from what it is today. There were no professional skateboarders and no sponsorships. Skaters just did it for the fun of it. Most skateboards were made of wood and were very fragile. The wheels were made of clay and would often break. Skaters would often have to replace them frequently.
