A Jake brake (short for Jacobs Vehicle Systems) is a hydraulic override of the exhaust valves on large diesels that allows compression pressure to "bleed" out the exhaust and up the stacks. Best you can do is an exhaust brake, a flapper in the exhaust header that creates backpressure on the exhaust, but no cool sound. Sorry.
Apr 24, 2022 · I have a Cummins ISX 870. with a jake brake issue. I only have 1 stage. Insite shows Switch at 100%. I have checked everything. Here is the strange part. After checking everything . I made 2 jumper wires to go from the engine harness plug at the head pass thru to the 2 solenoids. I run the engine up then let off the rear solenoid works front ... I have seen where the clutch pedal / foot brake pedal need tp be touched by foot to re engage/ reset the cruise and jakes . Try this going down the road , get up tp hwy speed , tap the clutch pedal where the free play is and then set cruise and see if it will work . The cruise and Jakes may just work .
