I'd say Friis Bay or all the way out to Privateer Bay. Both beaches are rocky but beautiful. For sunsets, you could try Salomon or Hawksnest. I vote for Hawksnest. We go to St John at least twice per year and stay in the Bordeaux Mtn or Coral Bay areas. Lots of breeze there to keep bugs off, but still a lot of mosquitoes and no-see ums. We took a spray this year called Sawyers Insect Repellant with 20% picaridin and had fewer bites. I think the DEET only works well for mosquitoes.They get in fresh fish every day. If the roads are dry, all the North Shore beaches can be accessed with a non-4WD. You'll just be limited in being able to use some of the side of the road parking where the drop offs can be significant. Lameshur will be a definite no-go, but the beaches out east would be fine, again with dry road conditions.
