Aug 4, 2016 · Hi I have a 48" SCAG tiger cub. The drive belt keeps sliding off the idler pulley shortly after start up. Maybe in 1 out of 20 times does it stay on so I can mow. I replaced the belt and the pulley and it's still happening. Sometimes it happens when i throttle up, sometimes it happens when i engage the blades. The pulleys look aligned and straight. The drive belt breaking is a common problem on the tiger cat 2. Read the thread by @ProStreetCamaro about his tiger cat 2. he goes into detail about multiple breaks. Talk to your dealer before buying a new belt and see if scag has a fix. I believe (could be wrong, read his thread) prostreet is getting belts for free till the kinks are worked out.Very simple. First make a drawing of how the blade belt goes on the pulleys. Then drop that belt off the clutch. Now you can get the drive belt off. Before you do make a note of how it goes on the pulleys. Now just install the drive belt and reinstall the blade belt and your good to go. I usually jack my unit up and put the back tires on boards about a ft. off the ground. Holding the idler spring load while you are slipping the belt on is tricky.
