Let them sit for a while then re-torque them since the gasket will take a set and the torque will fall off. Occasionally I have to do this a few times until the torque holds. Jake.

Spec for the SBC is 65-70 ft.lbs with factory bolts.....75 ft.lbs isn't going to hurt anything....but if you want to re-torque, it is a good idea, you will find that the gasket has relaxed some under the compressive force of the head, and you will find some bolts seem looser, usually the longer ...

Start at the center between the two exhaust valves and work out from here. 65# of torque will work fine. Be sure to use lube on the underside of the bolt head and to use sealer on the threads.
