If just concerned, take it into the dealer and they will apply the mitigating patches for the car. And BTW, one of them made the transmission buttery smooth.

A number of things can trigger limp. Any gear slip or defective speed sensors is one example. If it's just the transmission or ECU modules a basic code reader should show the code. Can get these pretty cheap or even a bluetooth reader and phone app. That way you can read it yourself when it occurs.
Some cars though do put the engine management system into LOS (Limited Operation Strategy / limp mode) when the filter loading exceeds a specific level.
