Got around to running some AAC 77gr SMKs today and was pleasantly surprised with a 5-shot .561 MOA with a Larue 16". My plain Colt A4 with milspec trigger shot a 1.21. At $14.99 per box, these are looking good. ... I've gotten similar results from their 77gr OTM's as well. Really hoping these pan out as a legit alternative to IMI

May 19, 2023 · Given the price of the AAC ammo, I would suggest giving them all a try. One or the other might shot better from your firearm. And so far the AAC OTM 77gr appears to work well, terminally wise. The SMK 77gr has a lot of info about it . And the 75gr is the Hornady bullet.. so also lots of info out there. Not sure on the AAC specific bullets but I chose 75gr over 77gr for better terminal ballistics vs better accuracy. Posted: 2/4/2024 1:09:10 PM EDT. [#6] FWIW... the Hornady 75gr tends to expand much faster / sooner ( less neck ) then the various 77gr OTM's . And IME, some barrels love the Horn. 75gr, some do not.For sure. I got 1.5 out of my 18” white oak but the criterion was 2+ consistently. For reference, that white oak barrel shoots 55g lake city just as well as the AAC 77g OTM. For 77s, IMO, the OTM was underperforming. Bought 120 rounds of the in house 77, smk and tmk. Will do velocities and accuracy testing with a 16” radian model 1. Might stick the NF 2.5-20 on it just to see how well each groups. I'm late to the party but I too have ordered the 77 OTM, the 77 SMK and this morning ordered the TMK when it popped in stock.
