Heavier items will provide more but can cause you to over heat. Resilient will reduce the chance you get infected from a laceration or scratch. Bites are always 100% guaranteed to infected you. It won't say you're infected on the health panel but after a few days you'll get queesy and then you'll get hungry and eventually your health will just start to go down until you die.
