The guide you linked to is from very late early access, most of it is still relevant, but a few things are quite different (for example the guide tells you to build a tavern to make roasted meat, but that is actually now made in a kitchen). And in general I'm not sure I agree with the guide either, the build order doesn't seem terribly efficient...
