It's really hard to get normal sized LEGO pieces to print accurately so I always go oversized. I go with 4 times normal scale. I'm currently working on printing a set with about 500 pieces. I use PLA for most parts but all the technic is PETG for strength. I don't prefer knock off Lego, but I'm also pragmatic: there are sets that just can't be bought for reasonable money on the second hand market. Lego is still superior quality and certainly has higher quality printing with much more consistency.
