As I understand it, the pair valve is something Honda put on the bike because of the emmissions laws (something about diluting the exhaust gas). It allows more air into the bike than you really need/want, and is not good for getting the bike running well. Also the VTX air fuel mixture is set "lean" by the factory, so that doesn't help either.
As this problem appears several times here in Europe, I plan to buy a tranny from the US. with the SC49 models I didn't hear about minor Tranymission-troubles.
