Both are nice but Westin Lagunamar is newer and a slighlt better location. Royal Sands is a 5-6 block walk to La isla mall while Lagunamar is directly across the street. I would pick Lagunamar. This may not be a popular opinion since this is a Cancun message board but if I were you I'd go to Cheweng on Samui. Don't get me wrong. I love Cancun. I live here and have for about 12 years. Cancun is great and I'm sure you'll have a fabulous trip if you choose to come here. You are right. Cancun is VERY hot and humid in August.
